Making a Recording

Make a Recording

The two Learning-Partner sessions require a current recording of you being the coach.

This recording does NOT have to be a Hollywood-ready production. It does need to be a good or reasonable example of the coaching skills you have learned so far.

It only needs to be 15 to 30 minutes in length.

All that is needed is an audio file. (ideally mp3 type).

The session can be with any type of client: a real one, a friend/family, a peer student coach, or perhaps even your learning partner (if they agree).

Here are some methods and sources:

  • Record a Zoom call and save the recording to your PC. In the Zoom folder, you will get a video (mp4) and an audio file (m4a) of the session.
  • Use a voice recording app on your phone.
  • In-class video. Your Learning Partner will NOT have access to the class video, but simply play the section of the video and record the session on your phone.
  • Your part of the Peer-To-Peer session.
  • A direct client
  • Your Practice Partner assigned from class.
  • (if pre-agreed to) Coach your learning partner live in your session.

Your goal is to intentionally showcase the skills and competencies you have learned during this experience.

MUST Have PERMISSION

It is unethical to share or distribute a recording of your coaching session WITHOUT the stated permission from the client. Even if it is just being used internally. Their voice, likeness, and experiences are owned by them and you need permission to share any part of your interaction with them.

Two simple ways to gain permission for these Learning-Partner recordings:

  1. On the recording itself, ask permission and gain a recorded verbal response from the client.
  2. Use the more formal Permission Form to obtain their signature and agreement.
