158 ABOUT THE AUTHOR Amy Ruppert is a Master Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF). She has been a full time, professional coach since 1996. Since then, she has coached hundreds of individuals in both private and group settings. Her private practice, while eclectic, comprises mostly professionals, executives, and business owners. Being passionate about coaching, Amy has played an integral role in developing coaching as a worldwide profession. For over five years she was on the executive team of Coach U, often considered the grandfather of coach training schools, where coaching was pioneered and forged as a profession. During her time with Coach U Amy was an integral part of growing the company from under 500 students in the U.S. and Canada to over 7000 students in 36 countries. In 2001 Amy ended her tenure there as President of Coach Live which developed and produced over 65 live coach training events each year for personal, business, and corporate coaches around the world. As an early leader in the profession, Amy was also invited into the development of certification standards and criteria for the International Coach Federation (ICF), the most recognized coach certification throughout the world. She sat on the Exam Committee where competencies, exam content and exam procedures were initially developed and are now used as a standard in over 80 countries. She was also one of the founding members of the Chicago chapter of the International Coach Federation. In her most recent ground-breaking endeavor in the coaching profession Amy was invited and served two years as a charter faculty member at The University of Texas School of Management in the Executive and Professional Coaching Program, the very first academically accredited coach training program in the United States, where The Personal Groundwork for Coaching® Program was first delivered. To date The Personal Groundwork for Coaching® Program is being used in several university, corporate and private training environments in over five countries.
