88 P E R S ON A L G R OU N DWO R K F O R C OAC H I N G Here are some things to consider if you haven’t included them in your observations: • Julianna had allowed Mary’s poor behavior to go on for quite some time thus teaching her it was okay to do that. • What you see IS what you get with Mary and there doesn’t seem to be a willingness on her part to change or modify within the relationship. • Julianna has nothing in her communication toolbox to set a boundary with Mary or begin a new education process on how to treat her and so winds up apologizing instead leaving with her self-esteem draining out by the bucketful. Can this relationship be saved? Maybe and maybe not. But before it has a ray of hope Julianna must be willing to face the possibility that it may not.
