Marilyn Orr is passionate about coaching - coaching her clients, equipping others with coaching skills and promoting coaching. She was instrumental in starting the International Coach Federation (ICF) chapter in Atlantic Canada. Currently she is the President of the ICF chapter in Austin, Texas.

She has been coaching since 2005, embracing the core belief that asking powerful questions is far more effective than telling people what to do. Being a witness to the “a-ha” moments that happen when freshly trained leaders coach each other is a special joy. Marilyn has trained and coached several hundred leaders to effectively coach others - from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Marilyn’s formal education includes a Bachelor in Psychology, a Masters in Counseling and a graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia, in 2006. Most recently Marilyn completed an advanced coaching course in Mentor Coaching further equipping her to support the development of coaches.

As a result of the challenges that her own life has offered Marilyn has a unique passion for everyday practical resiliency. She authored “How Absorbent Are Your Shocks”, a practical workbook helping people build their personal capacity and offer practical tools to bounce back better from the hard things in life.

Marilyn throughly enjoys living in Austin, Texas with her husband Bill, taking advantage of the live music, amazing food and beautiful weather that Austin is known for.
