01
What is Mentor Coaching?
Understanding the process

Mentoring and coaching are both methods of helping people grow. Mentor coaching, however, is specifically designed for coaches it focuses entirely on your development as a practitioner.

What it is
A structured, one-to-one relationship with an experienced ICF-credentialed coach who listens to your coaching, gives you targeted feedback, and helps you grow your skills as a professional.
What it is not
It is not supervision, therapy, or general coaching. The focus is always on your coaching how you show up, how you listen, how you ask questions, and how you hold the space for your clients.
Who it is for
Coaches studying for their ICF credential, coaches preparing for their performance evaluation, and experienced coaches who want to maintain their professional edge.
Why it matters
The ICF requires a minimum of 10 hours of mentor coaching for credentialing. Up to 7 of those hours can be in a group setting. One-to-one hours always meet the full requirement.

How to Get Started
Three steps

Getting connected with your mentor coach is straightforward. Follow these three steps to get started.

1
Understand how mentor coaching works
Take some time to review this page and become familiar with the process, expectations, and what to bring to your first session. The more prepared you are, the more you will get out of every hour.
2
Browse the mentor coach pool and choose your coach
Review the profiles of our ICF-credentialed mentor coaches. Read about their background, coaching style, and areas of focus. Choose the coach whose approach resonates most with where you are in your development.
3
Submit your mentor coach request
Once you have chosen your mentor coach, submit the request form directly on their profile page. They will be in touch to schedule your first session and get you started.
A note before your first session: Come with a recent coaching recording if you have one. Your mentor coach will listen to it and give you specific, targeted feedback. If you do not have a recording yet, that is fine too your first session can focus on orienting you to the process and identifying your development goals.

This is your time. Use it well. Great coaching does not happen by accident it is built one conversation, one session, one honest piece of feedback at a time.
